Weather, name days and automatic calendar sync — three new things in FamVibe

Three new additions to FamVibe mean less hopping between apps: a weather forecast right on the home screen, Swedish and Norwegian name days in the calendar, and automatic sync of any external calendar — the sports team's, say — in among the rest of the family's events.

Not every update needs to be big to make daily life easier. These three are small on the surface but remove recurring little frictions: an app switch here, a missed name-day greeting there, a training time typed in by hand every week.

1. A weather forecast right on the home screen

Skip opening a separate weather app to know whether it's umbrella weather on the way to school. Today's temperature and forecast now show as soon as you open FamVibe — you just enter your town once in settings, and it stays there.

The point isn't for FamVibe to replace a full weather app, but for the quick check most people do in the morning — "do the kids need rain gear today?" — to be on the same screen as today's schedule. Note that the weather sits on the home screen, not inside the calendar view itself.

2. Name days in the calendar

Swedish and Norwegian name days now appear directly in the calendar view, so you never miss congratulating a grandmother or a neighbour. They sit quietly in the background among your own events, not as separate rows taking up space.

If you'd rather have a completely clean calendar, name days can be turned off in settings. Public holidays show the same way.

3. Sync in any calendar automatically

Does one of the kids have a sports team with its own calendar link (an .ics address)? Paste it under Calendar Sources, and matches and training sync in automatically alongside the rest of the family's events — no manual entry, and the team can change a time without you having to do anything.

The same works for the school calendar, a club, or any public .ics link. With FamVibe Premium you can also export the shared family calendar as an .ics file the other way and import it into Google Calendar, Apple Calendar or Outlook. More on keeping the whole family's calendar together.

Frequently asked questions

Does the weather show inside the calendar? No. The weather forecast sits on FamVibe's home screen, alongside today's overview — not as a row inside the calendar view.

Can you turn off the name days? Yes, in settings. Then the calendar is completely clean with just your own events and public holidays.

Which calendars can you sync in? Any with a public .ics link — sports teams, school, clubs. The link is pasted under Calendar Sources and then updates automatically.
